Overview

Good power quality has now become a norm and expectation of the electrical power industries. Digitalization and significant increase of intelligent electronics components in the electrical power system has prompted the need and urgency to ensure good power improvements. Harmonics and the triplen effects have aggravated the efficiency and performance of electrical power equipment. However, with the rapid advancement of technologies the poor power quality can be mitigated and sometimes eliminated. There are many power quality issues related to voltage, current and frequency which have negative effects of the power transmission and distribution systems.

Power quality can now be monitored with the emergence of new sophisticated testing, measuring, analyzing and diagnostic instruments. Hence it can monitor on a weekly or monthly basis. Power quality improvements can lead to a more secured and efficient performance of the electrical equipment and switchgears. In this Power Quality Improvement in the Electrical Distribution System training course the participants will learn to Identify the poor power quality parameters and understand design and functions of the poor power quality mitigation techniques.

Objectives

By the end of this Power Quality Improvement in the Electrical Distribution System training course, participants will learn to:

  • Identify the poor power quality parameters and issues
  • Recognise the importance of power quality improvement
  • Understand the negative effects of power harmonics
  • Appreciate the availability of various power quality test and measuring instruments
  • Determine the condition of the power quality in an electrical installation

Training Methodology

This training course will ensure that participants will receive a thorough training on the subjects covered by the outline with the instructor utilising a variety of proven adult learning teaching and facilitation techniques. Each participant will receive a copy of the comprehensive seminar notes. The presenter will outline and discuss the topics using computer displays, videos and power point presentation.

The training course is designed to have an interactive format to maximize delegate participation. Questions and answers are encouraged throughout and at the daily sessions. Needs-Based case-studies and examples will be discussed in problem solving workshop sessions. This gives participants the opportunity to discuss with other delegates and the presenter their specific problems and appropriate solutions.

Who should Attend?
